BBC: British Brainwashing Corporation
I make no apology for my title. For as long as I can remember the BBC has put out anti-God, anti-morals, anti-life rhetoric in a manner which deceives, confuses and leads people away from the truth. To some people the BBC is a national treasure. I grew up watching Blue Peter, Newsround with Andy Peters, and the 6 o’clock news. I enjoyed Match of the Day on Saturday. The drama of Eastenders and the Mitchells never failed. Even then, those 90s shows which hold fond memories in our minds was full of covert propaganda. It’s easy to see that the 90s is long gone. It seems like a completely different world now. Nothing is covert anymore. Everything is in your face. Sin is publicly paraded as being righteous and that which is righteous is publicly shamed as being unloving. I do not say this because of the recent apology given to Donald Trump by the BBC. If you are not aware, the BBC edited his January 6th speech to make it seem that he was inciting violence, contributing to considerable damage to societies view of politics and baring false witness about the event and a fellow image bearer. This is one, in a long list of lies that I could point to that show the BBC to be untrustworthy. My motivation, however, is not solely focused on the BBC. My motivation is that Christians would see that all mainstream media platforms have an agenda to twist the truth. My motivation is for Christians to adopt a biblical worldview based on scripture and are not led astray by the mainstream narratives that tell us otherwise.
People ask me, “How did we get here? How did so much change so quickly?”. I believe they are referencing the shift in our nations stance on marriage, life in the womb, assisted suicide, authority in the home and in government, the family structure, moral absolutes, sexuality and race. Pillars which are foundational to every society have been drastically distorted away from any biblical perspective. This ‘turning away’ has been driven by the mainstream media, the education sector and the entertainment industry and it has hurt us. Our homes are broken. Our mental health is worse than ever. Suicide attempts have increased significantly. Political and racial tension has increased. Men are more effeminate and possess lower levels of testosterone. Women are more masculine and look down on women who prioritise the home and their families. The birth rate is at an all-time low. Marriage is at an all-time low. Fewer people in Britian consider themselves to be Christians than ever before. What do we do?
Repent. The word repentance in the Bible literally means “the act of changing one’s mind.” True biblical repentance goes beyond remorse, or regret of sin. It involves more than merely turning away from sin. Eerdmans Bible Dictionary includes this definition of repentance: “In its fullest sense it is a term for a complete change of orientation involving a judgment upon the past and a deliberate redirection for the future” (https://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-repentance.html).
We must repent from the way we used to act, think and see the world. The first step means to trust Him, Jesus, who died for our sins. It means to trust that as He rose again, we too will also rise again. We have sinned so much, more than we can count, our only hope in heaven is our hope in Him who has accounted for all our trespasses. Repentance means to trust His word and His wisdom and instruction above all. It means to turn away from our lifestyle and mindset of yesterday and follow after Him today and for tomorrow. It means no longer being mainstream but to be on the narrow path. It means living for him who died for us; so that when we die, we live with Him. We show evidence of our repentance and trust in Jesus when we read His Word and humbly allow it to direct everything we do, think and feel.
Romans 12:2 (Amplified Version) And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
