Church Membership at Days Lane Baptist Church

To qualify for church membership you need to be a born again believer, with a testimony describing who you were before you were saved and how you were converted and trusted in Christ. Anyone in moral sin such as sexual sin or cohabiting will not qualify for membership until there is a full repentance.

If you have any questions about the membership, speak to one of the church leaders after a Sunday morning service or email secretary@dayslanebaptistchurch.org.uk

1. Meet the Church Leaders

After Sunday morning service meet one of the church leaders and introduce yourself. They will be eager to give a copy of the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith and answer any questions you may have about the church and its beliefs. They will also arrange time to get to know you and your background.

2. Know what we believe

An important part of becoming a member of our church is becoming familiar with what we believe and how our church practices those beliefs. Read through the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith and also read our church “Distinctives”. Then spend some time attending services, bible studies, prayer meetings and events to see how we put what we believe into practice.

3. Attend Membership Classes

All three classes are required and can be attended on a Sunday, after the church service.

— Week 1: Distinguishing DLBC from Other Churches

— Week 2: Why Membership Is Biblical

— Week 3: How to Be an Effective Member at DLBC

4. Attend Pastoral Interview & Schedule Baptism

This is a great opportunity for the Leadership to answer any questions you may have. They will also have questions to ask you, so they can get to know you and how to support you spiritually.

Soon after, you will be asked to share your testimony with the other church members during a fellowship meal. This will be a great opportunity for everybody to get to know you and for you to meet the members too.

For those who have yet to be baptized, your testimony and baptism will be done together before you are brought into the fellowship. A church leader will also complete baptism classes with you to ensure you fully understand what the bible teaches about baptism.

5. Right Hand of Fellowship (RHOF)

When you complete the membership process, you will be welcomed as a member at the end of the evening service. Before the Sunday evening service, there is a brief reception to welcome all new members, and at the close of the service, new members will make an affirmation of their commitment to the local body here at Days Lane Baptist Church.
