British digital ID

In the last few years, we have seen escalated concerns about illegal and legal immigration. The right-wing side of the argument generally warns about the dangers that come, mainly, with illegal immigration. They liken it to an intruder in your house that must be removed for the safety and concern of those who are vulnerable. The left-wing side of the argument generally sees legal and illegal immigration as the opportunity to use those coming across the border to bulk up the work force; and increase the skill set in the nation whilst showing ‘charity’ to those seeking a better life. In addition to that, we have seen the mainstream media fanning the flames of this debate between the two sides. They have intentionally pushed stories to trigger the populace, such as reports of immigrants committing crimes or immigrants being abused by radical nationalist. The outrage increases viewers and so they continue to create heated division, that many fear could result in a civil war.

Enter centre stage our Prime Minister to provide a solution – digital ID? Sir Keir Starmer said the new digital ID scheme would make it tougher to work in the UK illegally and offer "countless benefits" to citizens (Kate Whannel, New digital ID will be mandatory to work in the UK, 2025, www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles).

What are those “countless benefits?” Will it help you buy, sell and trade? We don’t know, and I can’t look into the future to tell you. The concern is that when we look back in history, we see men with power beyond their bounds, who may have good intentions, eventually becoming corrupted or replaced by another, who will use the inherited power for evil and oppression.

Revelation 13:17 tells us in the last days before Christ returns, that “no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.” I don’t know if this ID card is the prototype to that mark of the beast. What I do know is that eventually, whether it is through Kier Starmer or another, that all that is written in Revelation will take place and all scripture will be fulfilled. Jesus Christ is coming back and before he does there will be great tribulation.

A picture is painted in Revelation 6:12–17 that there will be a great earthquake, the sun will become black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky will fall to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. The sky will vanish like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island will be removed from its place.  The kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, will try to hide themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”

Who can stand on that day? Who will be good enough to withstand the impending judgement of God. No one will be righteous enough. You can’t pray enough; read enough; go to church enough! Why? Because all are stained with sin and therefore marked for judgement. Only those dressed in a white garment of righteousness that is not their own will be rescued. The righteousness of Jesus Christ is imputed to all who have put trust in His blood that was shed on the Cross of Calvary.

Christ is coming back, and if you are planning on getting through these last days by joining with a political party, then think again. If you are planning on trusting in works, such as mass, sacraments or praying to the saints or Mary, then think again. Who on earth can stand on that day of judgement? Only those whose hope is Jesus Christ, and nothing else.
